Catatan-catatan Orang Asli Amerika Purba Mengenai Ibu Tamadun

Catatan Amerika Mengenai Atlantis

---------------------

Mengikut Cel.

Politik Biut 8: Didikan biut Politik

Politik Biut 8: Didikan biut politik

Entah bagaimana, semalam aku terlalu mengantuk. Senja kelmarin aku sibuk mencari Hayam Laki yang selama ini aku jadikan mentor politik. Ia tidak kelihatan di reban seperti biasanya. Entah ke mana agaknya ia ba tapuk. Jadi aku terlelap di meja tulis.

Hayam Laki & Parti Politik

Besoklah aku teruskan mencari...

Savages of Borneo, 1853 part 1

Savages of Borneo part 1

I concluded that early western researchers had no respect toward Borneo people in their researches. Probably there are rationales for such arrogant behavior as their works came with invasion process. As invaders, they were military powerful. Superiority feeling was in its peak. It was the lifetime opportunity to see “savages” in action, and those “savages” were happen to be our immediate ancestor back in 19th century - about one hundred and fifty years from now.

19th Century Dyak of Borneo Picture

19th Century Dyak of Borneo Picture

They had equally narrow mindedness and huge bias pre built in their head upon arrival. When they saw our ancestors, they look down terribly, to the deepest bottom, with incomparable feeling of superiority and might. For them, we are just slightly clever than the famous Orang Utan, native primate of Borneo.

Craufurd is without exception. According to him, the aborigines of Borneo are of the same race of men as the Malays and Javanese - are, in fact, these people rude, uncivilised, and in the infancy of society, just as the Silures of Agricole are the civilised Welsh of our time. The dyaks of Borneo are divided into probably not fewer than hundred different tribes or nations speaking as many different tongues. This is tropical Africa, or tropical America all over, and a sure indication of a low state of society.

He think that the natives of Borneo, of whatever description, have no name, or, at least, no popular and well-known name, for it, this is, indeed the case with all the natives of the Archipelago to which it belongs. in so far as concerns all the greater islands, with, perhaps, the single exception of Java.

He observed that Borneo people does not know how to differentiate the real “pulo” and “islet”. According to him, “What they call "an island" (pulo), is no more than an islet, an object, of which the insularity is palpable, almost to the eyesight. This is quite consistent with their narrow knowledge and their limited powers of comprehension and generalization”.

But unless Borneo natives were really equivalent to Orang Utan at the time, I don't think these “savages” were too stupid that they can't comprehend with their own surrounding.

At the very least, now people of Borneo already know that Borneo is a pulo, a real pulau - an island.

Europeans, on the other hand maintain the ancient presumption that Europe is not part of Asia until now.

With all the biasness and shortcomings, we still have to relied on their record, as we do not have properly documented past.

He mention that "Borneo is inhabited by four descriptions of people-the original inhabitants, the Malays, the Chinese, and the Bugis of Celebes. The first of these are the most numerous, and from the singularity of their manners best worth a detailed account".

Biasness aside, Craufurd did some observation that match with other researchers findings. The aborigines of Borneo have no native name by which they distinguish themselves in the aggregate, but each tribe commonly takes the name of the principal river on which lies its chief residence. The Malays call them all Dyak, a word equivalent to our own term "savage" or wild man, and apply the term equally to the wild tribes of Sumatra and Celebes, as to those of Borneo.

To distinguish one tribe from another, they add to the general term the name of the tribe'chief river, as Dyak Kayan, "the savages of the Kayan," Dyak Sakaran, "the savages of Sakaran," &c. &c.

Craufurd wrote the life of Borneo natives quite descriptively, and in a way from broader perspective. It is carried out in a more Borneo way than we have now. It is interesting to note that early researchers, including himself does not segregate Borneo based on the political boundary that we have now, that is Kalimantan, Sarawak, Brunei and Sabah as they had none.

So when he said Borneo, he meant the whole Borneo, not just part of Borneo the way we segregate our mind on the subject at present.

Jerudong Highway

Tetapi akhir akhir ani nampaknya bangsa kitani semakin kehilangan tanah akibat kemiskinan.

Apakah Paadiaan Paadianku di Malaysia sama jua liau? Akibat miskin tanah dijual?

Inilah amat menyedihkan.

Apa pendapat liau disana?

UMNO information chief Tan Sri Muhammad Mohammad Taib once has described writers of political blogs, whom he says looked brave in criticising government leaders, as cowards. I bet, like Zam, he doesn't do online much. If he does, than he knew that he has a huge fan base in the Internet.

Congratulation Tan Sri!

But there are diferences between political blogs and blogs that write on politics. For example, Malaysia-today.com, harakahdaily.net and limkitsiang.com are the political blogs.

For most of them such as asiaweek.com, bharian.com.my thestar.com.my [and here, kadayanuniverse.com], they are of websites that write on politics; they aren't necessarily political blogs. Blogging on political issues isn't taboo in Malaysia. Nor that it should be discussed only by politicians. It interests everybody.
---------------------------

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- Umno information chief Tan Sri Muhammad Mohammad Taib has described writers of political blogs, whom he says looked brave in criticising government leaders, as cowards.
--------------------------

Now, back to the “coward” claims. There are specific political coward definitions to be fair with bloggers.

If you are the government backbencher, and maintain silence over everything that happen around you, that is a real coward. You are in the position to say something, but had choosen not to. You are too afraid of losing position and source of income.

If you are the government backbencher, and you are willing to stand up, it's just a normal thing that you do. Good friend isn't necessarily be a YES man.

But if you are outside of government circle, and being vocal or make constructive criticism at the same time, that is what we called as brave. Those people in power can do many nasty things to you. Therefore, if you vocal and manage to hide yourself, then you are smart.

If you play vocal but exposing your self daringly, and you don't know where to stop like Hindraf – then you are stupid fool.

Now You See, Now You Don't - SESB

Electricity: Now You See, Now You Don't
(Sabah Electricity Board, SEB, Sabah Electricity Sdn. Bhd., SESB)

I think most of us still remember the interesting TV commercial not long ago. At the moment I begin to feel that electricity supply in Sabah is quite like that. Its highly unreliable, unpredictable, and really troublesome to many.

Sabah Electricity

Well, it did a good thing to me. Without this unreliable supply of electricity, I wouldn't had discovered that my phone has text processor feature. But that is not the point I would like to highlight here.

Disruption of service simply too much to ignore as if it never happens, as it does and in terribly disturbing manner.

I noticed that there are two types of disruptions. The first, and more frequent is of the quick and short type. It is as if a prank plays off and on the main switch momentarily. It takes only 3 to 4 seconds, and the supply back to normal.

Blackout Cartoon

Others, long and of regular disruption type, lasting from 5 minutes to several hours.

But no matter what, I really hate them both. Sudden supplies disruption had caused me to lost many unfinished writing works. Imagine an hour or two of your work vanish in front of your eyes and nothing can be done about it. Such a waste of effort.

I wonder what is going on with SESB. Are they still using diesel-powered generators? If they are then this answer the short disruptions. It happens during generators switching process. As for the longer type, the only possibility I can think of is due to faulty generators.

I thought Pangi hydro electric station is big enough to provide electricity supply to major towns in Sabah. If station of that size were built to covered only Tenom district and the surrounding area, shutting it down is always the best decision to be made. At the very least, fresh water aquatic lifeforms that are currently trapped inside the huge dam be freed and they can live happily ever after somewhere's else.

Some years ago, former Chief Minister of Sabah Datuk Yong Teck Lee cited a popular joke on the then SEB - it stands for "Sabah Everyday Blackout" instead of Sabah Electricity Board.

That was the situation before Tenaga Nasional (TNB) took over. Now, with TNB the problem persist.

How about we invent a new meaning for SESB - Sabah Everyday Still Blackout.

Apa yang saya perlukan di Sipitang

Written by giin buagas

Apa yang saya perlukan di Sipitang

Barisan Nasional – BN telah mengumumkan barisan calon mereka untuk kawasan Dewan Undangan Negeri Sindumin kelmarin, 21 Februari 2008. Tn Haji Ahmad bin Hj Bujang dipilih untuk bertanding sebagai Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri – ADUN. Manakala penyandangnya, YB Datuk Hj Sapawi Hj Ahmad beralih ke Dewan Rakyat. Belasungkawa untuk karier politik Datuk Dr Hj Yussof Hj Yacob – nama beliau lenyap langsung dari senarai.

Pemimpin Sipitang

Pertama, ikuti kegemaran kerajaan sekarang.

Wujudkan sebuah "Corridor”, bukan “esplanade”.

e) Sipitang perlukan pemimpin lancang

What I need in Sipitang

What I need in Sipitang

Barisan Nasional – BN had announced candidates for Sindumin constituency yesterday, 21 February 2008. Tn Haji Ahmad bin Haji Bujang heeds for State Legislative Assembly (Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri – ADUN). While the incumbent, YB Datuk Hj Sapawi Hj Ahmad shifted to Parliament. It is a sudden demise for Datuk Dr Hj Yussof Hj Yacob political career– his name is missing.

Sindumin Leaders

Meanwhile, Tn Hj Ramlee Dua is a clear candidate for PKR so far, although I am not aware about similar announcement from PKR to date.

First of all, I am a proud Kadayan albeit NOT racist. And Sindumin or Sipitang is my hometown. I don't care about the next door neighbor – Lumadan. Let them decide what best for themselves, for their own goodness sake.

In my proud view, sindumin voters are among the best in Sabah. They are most patience citizens with incomparable self complacency, obedient and peace loving people on earth.

Except for a certain outspoken and restless souls – that includes myself - they never complaint much. For example they have to wait for more than three decades for government to provide the most basic sign of modern world – a proper asphalt KK-Sindumin highway that connects Sipitang with outside world.

Now, after “50” years of independence, luxury of this kind remains as untouchable dream for people in Banting, Kuala Mengalong and some other kampungs.

Lets started with the most basic thing, development of Sipitang district. It is not difficult to develop Sipitang actually. Remember the marketing management in school. Think about location, location and location.

And Sipitang location IS strategic.

Its located in border with Sarawak – a more developed state in Borneo island. Sipitang is the last exit to Brunei and Sarawak.

It is also next to Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan – the “pet” of federal government as federal territory since 1982. The situation akin to Pulau Pinang and Seberang Perai in Peninsular Malaysia.

What we need is a mean to translate the strategic location into ringgit and sen – and for that, we are in dire need for creative soul – a capable YB.

If one lurking around and is not blind, he can spot the following potentials almost immediately.

First, to adopt the liking of present government. Create a “corridor” of development, a development triangle, a development area or use whatever term - between Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan and Brunei exactly in this area – in order to promote growth.

"Corridor", instead of “esplanade”. “Esplanade” mean nothing to a shanty town like Sipitang – it will only make contractor who built the “esplanade” richer. My uncle, my auntie will NOT go to that “esplanade” just for sightseeing, I bet.

Second, we speak about tourism potentials – which I think we are lack of nothing here. We can sort out anything from legendary Batu Narit in Long Pasia, Ulu Bole, Bukit Jabih, Wasai, Pantai Marintaman, Pantai Kuala Mengalong, Durian season and the like.

If we really want to, we can even create a new one, such as a theme park or a museum like those of Monsopiad Cultural Village in Penampang, Sabah. I don't had a chance to ask my grampa, but I don't think Monsopiad was a very famous calebrity in the whole Borneo in his life time.

Third, create a University in Sipitang district. Let this humble place became an education hub for the surrounding area. Never underestimate this. This is Tun Mahathir idea for development of Sintok – a “shantier” town in Kedah when he decided to set up Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) some decades ago.

It's easy to set up a university, an individual such as Datuk Dr Lim Kok Wing even created his own university – Limkokwing University.

Fourth, go for a daring one. This is even easier, but also UMNO's idea, not me. NEVER blame me as unreligious being, as I am quite religious actually.

Build a casino somewhere in Long Pasia or preferably in Bukit Jabih.

This is the exact way UMNO developed Genting [Bentong] jungle of Pahang. The place was the famous hideout of Malaya Communist Party.

If you think this is totally ridiculous, the "orang asli" of Pahang felt exactly the same when the first time they heard the idea.

The above four simple mean of district development can only be materialised if, and only if, Sipitang YB are made of these criteria:

a) The leader has to be the guy with experience

Not as government servant, but as a political evil. People always talks about picking up “a lesser between the two evil”.

But to me, a weaker evil is even useless than the worst human being. I rather pick the strongest – that is why Inca empire in Latin America was so strong, they even sacrifice human to prove that they are powerful.

b) A fair play YB with sound mind

Almost all YBs pick the locus of their power in their very own kampung. So are development process and basic amenities, at the expense of other kampungs. Just go to Sipitang, locate the YB's kampung, and compare it to other kampungs at the other end of the district. If you can't tell the different, you better go and see an ophthalmologist.

c) Political parties are INsignificant to Sipitang

Being loyal and obedience are the true weakness of Sipitang people. In the past they love USNO so much, despite of the fact that USNO failed to bring a better quality of life to the district.

They vote base on party's symbol rather than the quality of individual candidates which I think, is terribly WRONG. If Sipitang people really look for development, it is always best to choose candidate based on individual quality rather than a party.

There is nothing shameful about switching party later – it has nothing to do with unforgivable sin of switching religion, or “murtad”.

d) YB should never be too long in the office

I think two terms are long enough for any YBs. They must understand the very beginning that the position as YB is not of “P&P – Permanent and Pensionable” kind of post.

US citizens learn the lesson the hard way, that is why they limit the presidential post into a mere two terms.

But I think The Philipines is pretty damn stupid. What a single term president can do to their country?

In Sabah, we learn this from chief minister rotation system, before it was scrapped by federal government. Nothing can a short lived Chief Minister does – not even capable to collect enough money to sustain a compulsive gambling habit, and an "esplanade", for example.

Unless the particular YB is a genius – such as Tun Dr Mahathir or Tan Sri Taib Mahmud [I limit my compliment on things that they did for economics development not on sodomy case], it is better to stop while they still can.

Too long in service and doing almost nothing except shaking hands everywhere – I rather say, goddamn you.

e) Sipitang need outspoken leaders

Take a look at Bung Mokhtar Raden of Kinabatangan. He is junior compare to the present BN leaders of Sipitang. And I tell you, he is not very smart either, other than the possesion of “laser-powered”, and "unfiltered" mouth of himself.

But I visited the Kinabatangan area twice last year. And the development pace there is tremendous, nothing like it I can see back in Sipitang.

Honestly, I do have problem with soft spoken type of leaders.

They are most likely cunning. These leaders play safe forever, keen on hiding somewhere in gray area – avoiding the most straight answer of YES or NO. This is the most difficult type of persons that I want to avoid if possible.

The common elimination method they use is backstabing. This is due inability to hold correct arguments and confrontation.

They are an insult – they nod to everything you said, pretending to be attentive like no other. A friend of mine call YB of this type as “YB boleh boleh”. This time, I will change the term to “YB bulls**t”.

I told you, I am a proud Kadayan, and I am a practical one.

I am not sensitive over issue whether Sipitang's YBs enrich themselves while in the office. Just tell me who among them were not, since independence. And tell me, except Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat of Kelantan, any Chief Ministers who weren't enrich themselves too?

So, leaders, take everything that you can carry with your bare hands.

READ AGAIN. ONLY with your BARE HANDS.

Don't be so greed, don't be so mean, leave the remain for the rest of us in Sipitang.

So, if you think that I am a glamorous person [which I am not], you may start to speculate whom I will vote for, from now on.

I have yet to assist any candidates, NOT for the time being as I think all of them doing good without me. Afterall am a busy man. But not only I am good at writing [I am a proud man, so take it easy] I am the best orator too, so watch out. Of course, my vote remains secret, forever.

This is the personal view of the author and it does not necessarily reflect the official view of KadayanUniverse.Com on the matter – Kaawai Tanah.

danazach - Ethnic composition in Sipitang |2008-09-20 19:09:02
Hi Mr. Amde Sidik,

I'm currently writing a wikipedia article on Sipitang and I've been trying to look for a more precise ethnic composition of Sipitang district (since the one given by the state Statistics only lists the main ethnic group in Sabah, i.e. KDM ad Bajau). I am wondering whether you can tell me the source of your ethnic composition and whether it includes the whole Sipitang district or just Sipitang town (Considering there's a significant amont of Kadazans in SFI). Thanks in advance.

amde Sidik - Kadayan Journal |2008-09-21 13:08:53
Hi Danazach

I didn't quite get your question.
Are you saying the locations, e.g.,museums, archives, statical agencies?

The answers are none of these.
If you are thinking about listing the available ethnics found in Sipitang District, then you ought to be covering the whole district.

I can only put in chronological order here, starts from the main ones:
1.Kadayan
2.Lundayeh
3.Brunai (notice the spelling)
4.Chinese
5.Murut Tagal
6 Kadazan (may be?)
7.others

Thank you
amde sidik

Politik Biut 7: The art of reasoning

Author kaawai Category

Written by WaJiD Manis

The Art of Reasoning

Perhatian: Kepada semua pembaca KadayanUniverse. Org Wiki Apakian?

“Maaflah, saya terlewat” kata beliau.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Itulah mantik.

Art of reasoning adalah logic. Mantik.

Salah seorang pemimpin pemuda UMNO – dengan gahnya disiarkan melalui berita TV semasa Parti Keadilan Rakyat mula-mula memperkenalkan logo parti mereka dulu.

Beginilah. Aku mesti belajar lagi tentang art of reasoning, logik atau mantik ini. Aku inda mahu nanti sampai 10 tahun, 50 tahun, 100 tahun orang lagi memetik kata-kata aku kerana kedunguannya.

Aku kan ahli politik...

Akan datang. Didikan Biut Politik

Native of Borneo Equivalent, Jakun , 1894

Native of Borneo equivalent to Jakun (1894)

Frank A. Swettenham, senior colonial officer of Malaya (he was the British Resident General of Selangor) observes that there are similarities between Jakun people (he called them Jaccoons) in Selangor and Perak and natives of Borneo.

F.A. Swettenham

F.A. Swettenham

According to him, “In Selangor, but more especially in the Ulu Bernam and Ulu Slim, there are numbers of the "Orang Utan" or "Jungle People," known also to the Malays as "Sakai," "Semang," "Orang Bukit," and "Orang Raiat," and to Europeans as Jacoons.

"Like the natives of Borneo, the Jacoons cover their arms with the brass wire. A girl I saw, whose toilet had apparently cost her some trouble, had her arms covered with numberless brass rings."

He did not specifically mention which Borneo tribe, that perhaps include Kadayans in general. But the comment he made was only 114 years old by now and talking about tribal people covered their arms with the brass wire. Hence, I believe this does exclude kadayans as they don't practiced such custom as far as I know. Not to the extend that brass wire cost them trouble in toilet, to the very least. Kadayan have been practiced Islam for almost six centuries earlier, and had abandoned the custom for good.

Penulis Blog Syok Sendiri

Author kaawai Category

Written by Kadayan Banaa

Zam: Penulis blog syok sendiri, macam nyanyi karaoke

Not long ago Zam, Federal Information Minister quoted as saying that some blog writers are like karaoke singer, that “syok sendiri” in singing. I think “syok sendiri” means self glorification, self gratification, self enjoyment or, blowing your own trompet.

Zainudin Maidin

Zam is right indeed. He was the reporter / journalist before he became full time politician and a minister. Its only natural for him to knew exactly what does “syok sendiri” mean.

Ask him how does he felt the first time his article being published in Utusan Melayu.

It isn't just karaoke singer.

[But man, if you ever listen to his interview with Al-Jazeerah you can guess, zam really can't sing. No wonder he hates karaoke singer as well]

Be either politician or journalist, “syok sendiri” is the fundamental of everything that you do. It is a raison d'être for everything, without it you are a dead meat. You need to “syok sendiri” first before you can “kasi syok orang lain”.

I mean it. How can you “kasi syok orang lain” if you can't even “syok sendiri” of what you are doing.

In politics and or journalism, or blogism, all of them are about selling oneself. It is similar to sell hot “pisang goreng”s. One sells good “pisang goreng”, it becomes best-selling and his clients eager to grab for more on the following day. But what happen if he doesn't turn up on the next day? Oh well, its just a “pisang goreng” after all. Since he does not sells on that day, clients may simply grab “pisang goreng” from other sellers.

------------------------------

24-08-2007 04:59:26 PM mstar.com.my
------------------------------

I think Zam is too old to understand the internet. But since he does not understand what blogs and bloggers are all about, he talks the talk of grumphy old man. He was a journalist once, but that was for newspaper, not for blog.

If he still capable of learning, and then knew how observes blogs carefully, he can sort out lot of differences among the two.

Newspaper and blog is like a manual type writer and a Pentium D computer. Publishing your articles in newspaper and blog is like sending mail and sending email. [The last time I send physical mail via post office was 5 year ago].

Writing via PC is never similar to writing via manual type writer. It has copy and paste feature, Datuk!

Newspaper is truly an old school media. Nevertheless, they still cater the masses, still very much important. I don't thing they are going to die any soon. But the clients generally are getting older over time.

Bloggers on the other hand are more young [in mind] and energetic, full of ideas, and willing to share them to the entire world, not just Malaysia. But most of them don't get the opportunity to show up in mainstream media.

Selling oneself and image building in real life isn't easy, isn't cheap. So blogging is just what they need. Blog helps them to express themselves, to sell their images and to position themselves in the community. Afterall, internet is something that is within the reach of everybody. It is easy to learn too.

With newspaper, if you curse someone it will be published on the next day, the fastest. The person that you cursed on the other hand, will have to wait for another day to see his reply - that is to curse you back, being published in the same newspaper. But thats only if he is lucky because every news and article subject to editor's approval.

There is no such thing in blogs. Blogger can even publish Zam speech in real time while he is still talking. If zam farts while reading his speech text on stage, his speech will appear somewhere in some blogs while the audience still sensing the foul smell of his fart.

The avid bloggers normaly know much about internet, read a lot and stay long hour everyday in front of their PC. They knew about many things, they travel frequently into virtual world or the Internet with population of 600 – 700 millions, and still growing.

Bloggers, especially the younger ones, normally are highly knowledgeable people. But at the same time they tend to be highly indualistic too. These are the result of spending lot of their life sitting on the chair and glued to the screen - reading, browsing, writing, talking to their virtual friends, etc..

This is not a newspaper but blog, they can reply to whatever you said while you still on stage.

You just can't win by cursing them. If you read the above paragraph you will understand, they are good at cursing you back. Thing will be easy if you, Zam, talk to them nicely instead.

Useless Meetings

Sunday, February 17, 2008
Author kaawai Category ,

Written by arimi sidek

This is quite trivial, but sometimes I truly wonder how long will a meeting last.

How long can you stand a meeting?

As a chairman, its deadly serious to observe how efficient you are during meeting.

Useless Meeting Cartoon

Actually I don't want you to answer the above questions for me.

It is sufficient to have momentary reflection on this hog time – eater. Especially if you belong to managerial part of workforce, it going to eats up a considerable portion of your life.

Imagine the continuous and monotonous life that you going to face during meetings. Any meetings at all – PIBGs, Schools, Projects, Workplaces, etc..

I am in the workforce for nearly two decades and had attended many useless meetings so far.

Honestly, I think its hard to put specific time line for any meetings. They can last for hours, days, weeks, months, etc., subject to necessity and degree of the seriousness of matters discussed during the meeting.

But not in single session, please.

How long do you thing human attention span is? Its an oxymoron to think that member of meeting can listen to chairman's mambo jumbo for 4 or 5 hours non stop.

If you still remember, that is why in school, session breaks into several sub-sessions known as “period”, 35 – 40 minutes each. Partly this is to address attention span problem among students.

Unless you practice sufi kind of exercises, yoga, samadhi or the like, you are likely to experience “ghaflah”. That is, among other, short attention span. Just try to focus in your solat [in case you are Muslim] and then realize how short attention span can be. You mind is truly like wild beast that wandering around wherever and whenever it likes. Just matters of seconds after “takbir ratul ihram” you mind already gone else where.

I believe the success of the meeting lies mainly on the the person who lead the session.

But in most meetings, I notice that the real culprit is also the chairman. I have seen many kapurt chairman that are truly oxymorons. The older they are, the more stupid they became. I wonder how the proverb “wisdom begin at forty” come about.

Most of the older chairmen are like antic collectors that trapped in time zone. Often, they spoken their mind off and what come out just like shit.

They only capable of talking about socio-politics, economics and management ideas of 70s and 80s, because that is the only knowledge that they have. They gathered these knowledge long time ago in 70s, in 80s, while study in the university and do not bother to add more as part of the thinking process and thinking dynamics.

Some chair persons think they are so good because they are the head of department and thus, chairing the meeting at the same time.

They think they know more than others. As their ego is so big, it explodes shortly after the meeting begin. Quite often I saw chairmans that “syok sendiri”. They really, really keen on talking off topic subjects and getting lost in the meeting.

Simply put, many of them have terrible time management.

Their time management is so terrible that, if there is a chairman that truly time conscious, that is considered good enough. Others, I think must have some thing to do with their personal thing if suddenly they become time conscious sort.

Such as, picking up their school kid at 12 noon...

I seldom encounter meeting chair persons that capable to hold correct argument with others the meeting. Correct arguments include fairly good art of reasoning, logic and sufficient knowledge on the subject that was discussed.

During meeting, most chairmen just come to know about the matters as written on the minute of meeting per se. These retardos do not even care to read the minute prior to the meeting. In several occasions, they just realize that they brought wrong meeting file and wrong meeting minute 15 minutes after the meeting started.

If you are among those chair persons, please, take long holiday or simply opt for early retirement. Remember, we have passed new millennium eight years ago. Now it is about radical knowledge explosion since the Internet emerges as knowledge super highway, huge source of knowledge.

The younger generation read more nowadays.

They mind are more exposed and hence, tend to know more.

If these old frogs still insist to live under coconut shell, at the very least, they have to accept the fact that they are of ridicule and mockery subject wherever they go.

My Phone Rocks!

Man, my phone rocks!

In just 2 days, I converted my outdated Nokia N70 into a full fledge word processing machine totally. I managed to get two de facto office suites for palm / hand held machine, QuickOffice and OfficeSuite of MobiSystems [MobileSystems].

My Nokia N70 in Action

QuickOffice - I mean full feature premier version of it, not just QuickOffice Viewer that always came pre-bundled inside your Nokia gadget, includes three standard office documents; word processing, spreadsheet and presenter with full editing capabilities.

Quick Office Premier

OfficeSuite of MobiSystems came in two, word processor and spreadsheet but richer in features compare to QuickOffice.

MobileSystem OfficeSuite

As a writing addict what else do I need now, except continue writing non stop 24/7.

This is perfect, taking into account of upcoming general election of Malaysia. Pak Lah will make an announcement about it anytime soon, and I will surely capable to write about politics as much as I can. It is a frenzy for every 5 year, how can I afford to miss.

Forget about laptop. I just about to buy the cheapest notebook that currently in the market. The notebook produced by Asus with 4GB flash disk and 512 MB memory, available with RM1,299 price tag here in Kota Kinabalu.

But my phone, with 1GB memory card that I currently placed inside, I want nothing more, nothing less than this outdated mobile set to be able to write.

It is unbelievable, the tiny word processors even have spelling checker feature!

If it just about writing in *.doc format, I can type for the whole year of 2008 without having to worry that I will be short of memory space.

I truly regret on why I don't discover this IT luxury two years ago. Now, it is about glued to hand phone, previously with PC - you still the same, my wife started to complaint. But I like my phone more. I can truly sit down, mingle with them, and having good conversation in the living room watch TV while I do all the typing.

It has been a week that I did not sit "properly" in front of the PC – alright, “properly” mean 3 - 6 hours non stop, is it okay for you :^p ?

Email me if you want both softwares, I can send it to you for a mere RM20 ;^) ...

Early Kadayan Songs, 1914

Written by Arimi Sidek

These are the oldest Kadayan songs ever recorded properly, as what I found so far. Unfortunately, no lyrics available. According to Myers, he obtained several phonographic records of native songs, thirteen of which he had analyzed and presented in his paper.

Kedayan Love Song (1)

Kedayan Love Song (1)

Like other researchers in his time, Myers classified Kadayans as part of Klemantan ethnic group. In his own word. “Kadayans belong to the Klemantan group of Bornean Peoples; to this group also belong the Bakongs ..., the Long Kiputs ..., the Sehops ... and the Lepu Anna ...”

Kedayan Love Song (2)

Kedayan Love Song (2)

There are two Kadayan songs presented in the article. One he called as “Love” song and the other, “Boat” song.

I wish those who can read the notes will record the tones and send them back to kadayanuniverse.com in *.mp3 format, so we can share what the tones sound like.

The Friend & I

Sunday, February 10, 2008

Written by arimi sidek

There is a friend of mine who work as a unit trust consultant. He switched career and became full time consultant since two years ago. I think he is doing the job quite well so far. He is one of Sabah's top agents for two consecutive years, 2007 and 2008. He isn't very creative in a way, but he is eccentric and horribly focus to his job.

Toyota Rush

Unlike most agents, he is really aggressive and did not start selling career with family members and friends from the very beginning. He is choosy in picking up clients. He select only towkays or people who are seen as financially sound. He don't mind difficulty in setting up appointments with Tan Sri Chong Kah Kiat or Datuk Dayang Mahani, for example.

He love his job very much, the way I like writing except in my case, I have yet to earn a decent money out of my addiction. And I doubt I will in future. As for the addiction, I can jot down something while waiting for my wife inside the car, or while sitting at the back of motorcycle whenever I felt tired before riding on.

Back to my friend, I think he really excels in selling. His strategy with big clients work quite well and the network considerably expand over time.

But as time goes by, now comes new twists. He starts to talk about buying new car. It is necessary as it will boast my image, he said. He insists that Malaysia's car simply isn't good enough to catch people attention.

Gee, I dunno that. But if he really mean by what he said then, he is not only not creative, but also stupid. I think he just hiding the real motive, that is, he wants to get more expansive car to project better image of himself. It shouldn't because of what customer think of himself. I say this because all this while he performs good sales even though he drive Iswara everyday.

Luxury car is no doubt boast his image and especially the pride but it definitely NOT necessity nor part and parcel of sales activity. Or, it isn't the way we need rice everyday in order to survive.

Take another friend of mine for example. He is also earn a living through sales line for more than 15 years. He does good too, with the sales volume around 2 to 5 millions every month. Imagine if the commission is 2pc, he probably earn about RM40, 000 every month.
Guess what was his car until last year, 2007?

20 years old white Proton Saga. Finally last year he got himself a new car, Kenari.
